Baltimore, MD (Sports Network) - The Baltimore Orioles avoided arbitration with right-handers Jim Johnson and Jason Hammel by coming to terms on one-year contracts Friday.
The 29-year-old Johnson, who had a franchise-record and major league-leading 51 saves last season, went 2-1 with a 2.49 ERA. He was named to his first All- Star team.
The Orioles reportedly settled at $6.5 million for Johnson's deal. He has one year remaining of arbitration eligibility.
Hammel was reportedly asking for $8.25 million in arbitration while the team was offering $5.7 million. The reported settlement was for $6.75 million.
Last season, Hammel went 8-6 with a 3.43 ERA in 20 starts.
The only remaining arbitration-eligible player for the Orioles is right-hander Darren O'Day.
