Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - The Detroit Tigers and pitcher Max Scherzer have agreed to terms on a one-year deal on Monday.

While financial terms of the deal were not released, CBSSports.com said that it is worth $6.725 million as the two sides avoided arbitration.

Scherzer went 16-7 last season with a 3.74 earned run average and finished second in the majors with 231 strikeouts, second only to teammate Justin Verlander's 239 punchouts.

A five-year veteran, he has a record of 52-42 with a 3.88 ERA and 829 strikeouts over 142 games (133 starts) with Arizona and Detroit.

Detroit has now signed all of its arbitration-eligible players.
