Recap: Rider vs. Jacksonville

Puerto Vallarta, MX (Sports Network) - Anthony Myles paced the Broncs with 23 points and nine rebounds as Rider defeated the Jacksonville Dolphins, 86-71, in the Hoops for Hope Classic at the Puerto Vallarta International Convention Center.

Jonathon Thompson contributed 18 points, six assists, and six rebounds for Rider (3-3) as it snapped a two-game losing streak. Nurideen Lindsey added 10 points for the Broncs, who will play Milwaukee on Sunday.

Glenn Powell contributed a double-double for Jacksonville (2-4) with 22 points and 12 rebounds while Keith McDougald scored 20 points and pulled down six rebounds. The loss was the second in a row for the Dolphins.

After Jacksonville took an early 6-2 lead, Rider went on a 19-3 run to build a 21-9 advantage with just over 11 minutes left in the first frame. The Dolphins fell behind in the first half after they managed to make only 10-of-32 attempts from the field. Rider knocked down 5-of-10 from three-point range in the opening 20 minutes to take a 34-26 lead into the intermission.

Both sides heated up after the break. Jacksonville made 51.7 percent of its field goal attempts and 14-of-20 at the free throw line, but the Broncs went 18-of-32 from the floor to stay in front.

Despite the loss, the Dolphins held a 40-35 edge in the rebounding battle. Rider's defense made a difference as it forced 19 turnovers in the contest.
