WICHITA (FoxKansas.com) -- Police are asking for the public's help in finding the person suspected of damaging the municipal aquarium that is located in the city's water department building.
Police said the incident occurred between 5 pm Friday evening and 9 am Monday morning at the water agency, located in the 100 block of E. Pawnee. According to reports, several landscaping rocks were thrown at the building and the aquarium and some trash cans were damaged.
The attack caused at least $5,000 worth of damage and the facility is expected to be closed to the public until repairs are complete. It was not immediately clear when the repair work will be done.
Police said one of the rocks struck a tank but that the glass did not shatter.
According to a post by the Water Center on the firm's Facebook page, the agency said it is reviewing beefing up its security in certain areas of the center.
