WICHITA (FoxKansas.com) -- The man accused of gunning down his wife while several of her children watched in northeast Wichita has been charged with first-degree murder, authorities said.
Kishen L. Woods, 28, was in court on Wednesday to face arraignment in the death of his wife, Antonia Woods-Cratic, 32. Bail has been set at $1.5 million for Woods, who asked the judge if he could be released to attend his wife's funeral. In order to be released, Woods would need to pay 10 percent of the bail amount -- or $150,000.
According to police and onlookers, the couple had been arguing inside their home in the 1300 block of North Grove when his wife ran outside the house as she was chased by her husband. According to reports, the man opened fire on his wife and then fired additional rounds at close range as she lay in the street.
A police officer who was in the area responded to the call for help and was able to arrest Woods shortly after the shooting. According to witnesses, three of the woman's kids watched as the incident and the shooting unfolded.
It remains unclear what prompted the argument.
