If you're between jobs, temporary employment can help you generate income, while still leaving time for your job search.it can also give you a mental boost, just by keeping you busy and productive. Start by applying at a temporary agency in your area; some employment agencies also offer temporary job placement. You're usually paid by the hour; the rate will vary depending on your skills, the particular assignment, and what size town you live in. There are many advantages to working temp, or temping, as it's sometimes called. You may get leads for other jobs. You might even land a permanent position at one of the companies you work for. This gives you the unique advantage of being able to test drive a job, before accepting it. Even if you should dislike a given assignment, you're not stuck there forever. Temping also allows you to gain experience in a variety of work situations. You may pick up valuable new skills. And if you've just moved to the area, driving to different jobs can help you learn your way around town.
