UPN Kansas / myTVwichita History:
UPN Kansas launched in August 2000 on
COX Cable Channel 6. Clear Channel spent almost $5 million on the transmission building in Halstead and broadcasting equipment in the KSAS facilities. UPN Kansas began broadcasting on UHF channel 36 on January 5, 2001.
The station aired programming
from the UPN network as well as first-run syndication.
As of August 21st, 2006, the station launched My TV Wichita,
airing programming from My Network TV.
In 2008, Newport TV (http://www.newporttv.com/content/stations.aspx)
bought KSAS-FOX Kansas and took over operation of KMTW-myTVwichita as an LMA.
